Shadowed Monocle (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Wondrous item, legendary (major) (requires attunement) The roiling black clouds that replace the glass in this forever-shiny, double-ringed gold monocle do not impede the vision of any creature wearing it over its eye, instead rectifying any visual difficulties the creature may have. The monocle itself never falls off your face, its chain resting behind any ear you may have or alongside your head. When not worn, it floats in the air no further than 2 feet from you, and can be mentally commanded to fly to your hand almost instantly. While wearing the monocle, you have truesight out to a range of 30 feet, and can see in both magical and nonmagical darkness and dim light as though they were bright light out to a range of 120 feet. As an action, you can rotate the rings of this monocle to lose the abilities to see in darkness and dim light conferred by the monocle to instead have truesight out to a range of 60 feet, or to lose the truesight conferred by the monocle to instead see in both magical and nonmagical darkness and dim light out to a range of 240 feet. Cloak of Shadows. As an action while in dim light or darkness, you extend the churning darkness inside the monocle to the rest of your body for a few moments, hiding you from the senses. You and everything you are wearing or carrying are invisible and make no noise until the end of your next turn, as well as any spells or magical effects you create. While invisible in this way, you may move through the spaces of creatures, objects, and areas of difficult terrain as though they didn't exist, but not through doors, walls, or other barriers. Once you use this property, the monocle cannot be used in this way again until dawn the next day. Dark Magics. Whenever you cast a spell that deals damage, you may imbue it with shadow energy from the monocle. A spell imbued in this way doesn't deal damage when it hits a target or when a target fails its saving throw against the spell; instead, the target loses hit points equal to the damage the spell would normally deal. Once you use this property, the monocle cannot be used in this way again until dawn the next day. In Sight. Whenever another creature leaves your line of sight, you may use your reaction to make the creature sightlocked for 1 minute. While sightlocked, you can see the creature and the space within 5 feet of it as though it were still within line of sight regardless of any creatures, walls, or other barriers between you and the creature. In addition, you may choose to make a spell you cast originate from a space within 5 feet of the creature, regardless of the spell's original range. The creature ceases to be sightlocked once you cast a spell in this way. Once you use this property, the monocle cannot be used in this way again until dawn the next day. |
