Weapon (Shortswords or Scimitars), artifact (Requires attunement)

This pair of scimitars, shade and shine, was forged in the Positive and Negative planes. Attuning to one of the scimitars automatically attunes you to both of them, which count as one attuned item.

Dormant. The Shortswords grants the following benefits in its dormant state:

    • You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
    • Shade: When you hit with Shade, you deal an extra 1d4 necrotic damage to the target.
    • Shine: When you hit with Shine, you deal an extra 1d4 radiant damage to the target.
    • When you attack a creature that has at least 1 hit point and roll a critical on the attack roll, Shade restores health equal to the necrotic damage dealt and Shine grants temporary hit points equal to the radiant damage dealt.

Awakened. When the Shortswords reaches an awakened state, it gains the following properties:

    • You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
    • When wielding both swords, your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20.
    • Shade and Shine: When you hit with these shortswords, you deal an extra 2d4 necrotic and radiant damage to the target, respectfully.

Exalted. When the Shortswords reaches an exalted state, it gains the following properties:

    • You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
    • When wielding both swords, your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 18 - 20.
    • Shade and Shine: When you hit with these shortswords, you deal an extra 3d4 necrotic and radiant damage to the target, respectfully.

Finesse. When making an attack with a finesse weapon, you use your choice of your Strength or Dexterity modifier for the attack and damage rolls. You must use the same modifier for both rolls.
Light. A light weapon is small and easy to handle, making it ideal for use when fighting with two weapons.
