Ryderwood Bow (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Weapon (Longbow), Legendary (requires attunement) The ancestral weapon of the Ryderwood family, this Longbow was originally held by Rohan Ryderwood and was used throughout the Arcana Wars of the old world and to defend the Gwydion on her voyage to Svalbard. The longbow was crafted from the antler of a fallen great elk, and beyond a few subtle red runes, it looks rather ordinary. Once an arrow is drawn, the arrowhead glows bright red and upon firing, the archer may choose one of two effects. Ryde: On a hit or a miss, the archer can choose to "Ryde the arrow", as the Ryderwood's call it which appears as the archer and bow turning to red smoke as they loose the arrow, which follow the draft of the arrow to its target, where the smoke reconstitutes itself into the archer again. Effectively teleporting to the location that the arrow lands. Once an archer is proficient with longbows and has increased 5 levels while attuned to the bow, they can cause 3D12 Force Damage to any creature within 5ft of their "landing zone", only on a miss. Or Die: +1D6 Force Damage on a hit, and choose to either knock the enemy prone or push them back 5ft, increasing by 1D6 and 5ft for every level the PC increases while attuned to the longbow. |
