A stroke of lightning forming a line 100 feet long and 5 feet wide blasts out from you in a direction you choose. Each creature in the line must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 8d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The caster takes 1d4 damage. The damage done to the caster can not be prevented in anyway. The lightning ignites flammable objects in the area that aren’t being worn or carried. In addition the caster can choose to make the spell do additional damage. This is done by the caster choosing to take additional 1d4 damage. For every extra 1d4 of damage the caster takes beyond the base cost the spell does an additional 1d6. The total damage dice the caster takes can not surpass thee total HP of the caster. If damage that is dealt to the caster is twice their total HP they are vaporized and turned into a fine dust unable to be revived without extraordinary means.
At Higher Levels. At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd.
