Quick-To-Home Stones (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Wondrous item, Uncommon (child stone), Very Rare (mother stone) A pair of stones, one as small as a coin in the likeness of a swaddled infant called the child stone, the other as large as a man's torso in the likeness of a woman in a shawl called the mother stone. A child stone that is touched to a mother stone is tied to the mother stone, but is useless otherwise, only giving off a faint magical aura of conjuration (portal magic) if examined. Up to 10 child stones can be tied to a single mother stone at once. A child stone can be created in a ten minute ritual, during which a coin-sized stone is inscribed with the appropriate likeness and a fourth-level spell slot is spent on imbuing the stone with magic. A mother stone can be created with eight hours of work on five consecutive days, during which a torso-sized stone is inscribed with the appropriate likeness and a fifth-level spell slot is spent each day on imbuing the stone with magic, though each eight hours of work can be broken up across the day's length into many shorter segments of time. Instant Portal. A creature that carries a child stone tied to a mother stone more than one mile from that mother stone but is still on the same plane of existence as the mother stone may use their action to throw the child stone up to fifteen feet. Upon traveling that distance or striking a solid object, the child stone creates a portal to the mother stone's location and flies through it, landing safely on the other side. The portal remains open until the end of the creature's next turn. If the mother stone is used as the keystone in a bridge, doorway, or similar stone arch, the portal created by throwing the child stone will be of the same size and shape as the arch on both sides. |
