Petrosapien[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
Pure as diamond, by DAFFDUFF_ART |
Petrosapien are a silicon-based life form. Their strong body is composed of a type of highly resistant blue-green crystal, which forms the muscles of their body. On its back it has 4 pointed crystals, its head ends in a similar point, its face is angular, presenting a large jaw and yellow eyes. They are characterized by their enormous resistance and durability.
History[edit]
Once upon a time, there was a planet called Petropia, the home of all petrosapiens. However, the planet was destroyed by a tyrant, causing the petrosapiens to be considered extinct in the universe. But what no one ever knew was that one of the fragments of the planet's core had survived the explosion. Traveling through space with the faint light of a dying world, it came to the end of its long journey, falling to planet Earth, landing on a mountain and burying itself in it. The Petropian core was to take its last breath as proof of the existence of the petrosapiens.
But it was not like that; the nucleus realized the energy that surrounded it, what everyone knows as magic. In order to restore itself and its race, it fed on the abundant magic of the world, growing stronger and ceasing to be the screams of a dying planet. Thanks to this, the mountain where it once landed had crystallized inside, and several crystals protruded from it. The world noticed this anomaly, and therefore, they went to investigate. Great was their surprise to find a mineral never seen before. The plans to exploit it did not wait. The amazing absorbency and durability were something spectacular. But the Petropia Core was not something for humans to blow up...
This was a planet that found a new beginning. The goal was always to bring the petrosapiens back, so imagine everyone's surprise to see the life forms of Petropia. The petrosapiens had learned the language of this planet thanks to their birth in this one. They made it clear: they would not be slaves to anyone. They simply wanted to be like another species in the world. Of course, people did not agree, but the force of the petrosapien sent them to hell. A body with durability and incredible absorption made them formidable enemies, but the greed for the Petropia crystal simply caused a war to be waged. The petrosapiens were truly formidable. Their ability to modify even their crystalline atomic structure and physiology at will made them fearsome, but they were new in this world and didn't know about the other threats. They were outmatched at one point.
But Mother Petropia, that was how the petrosapiens named the nucleus, would not allow their species to become extinct again. Sensing this threat, she powered all the petrosapiens with the magic she had absorbed for so many years, by which time the petrosapiens were now evenly matched. Now they had the same capacity as all the beings of this world, and during what is dubbed "The War of the Crystals," or "Crystal War," the petrosapiens were recovering ground. Petrosapiens with the ability to be magicians, abilities compared to the barbarians and the ability to handle the ki were able to turn the tables, but the war reached such a point that the enemies of the petrosapiens managed to break their walls. The petrosapiens had built their kingdom, but now their enemies went to attack it. But there was something that the enemy kingdom never knew, a mistake that led them to the grave. Nobody knew this, but when the petrosapiens were in their kingdom, they were practically invincible. Mother Petropia greatly strengthened her children while being in her territory. Their abilities, durability, and power increased enormously. Even their vulnerability was less effective in that state. The power was such that the petrosapiens, with their crystalline bodies, were able to reflect magic. Physical damage was almost useless, and the closer they got to the core, the stronger they became. Mother Petropia would do anything. Anything to perceive their existence, so their line of defense should be the most powerful. Many tried to escape, but the door was closed. They never locked up the petrosapiens; they were locked up with the petrosapiens. No one in history was able to reach the core. There was a story about how a magician managed to reach and tried to disintegrate the core. That attack was simply reflected and returned to the caster. No one dared to destroy Mother Petropia again.
After a unilateral massacre, the Crystal War ended. The world witnessed the strength of the petrosapiens, so they simply accepted their condition, to be one more race that lived in peace. The petrosapiens earned their place in the world. Now they live in peace, as a sign that they wanted to be a race that was part of this planet, they decided to trade their Crystals, giving enough as Mother Petropia offers, opening the kingdom of New Petropia to the world
Society[edit]
While petrosapiens are originally from petropia, and largely still reside there, some have become interstellar travelers. petrosapiens are honorable warriors, they do their duty whenever they must, trading their Crystal makes them an influential kingdom. They do almost anything, but honor is intricate in their race, so they will not dishonor that as their bottom line. petrosapiens don't show their emotions, being very stoic people. They have difficulties expressing themselves emotionally. They tend to be direct and don't beat around the bush, but are less literal than lizardfolk. Due to their dense atomic structure, they hate hearing loud sounds.
Petrosapiens Names[edit]
The petrosapiens take a representative name, something that defines them, an example would be "Tetrax", which in the language of the Petrosapiens means resilient.
Petrosapien Traits[edit]
Crystalline life forms with great durability
Ability Score Increase. Strength score increases by 1 and your Constitution score increases by 2.
Age. Petrosapiens do not age, due to their crystalline body their deterioration is nil.
Alignment. Petrosapiens are mostly legal, but there are always exceptions
Size. Petrosapiens are usually around 6 or 7 feet tall and weigh between 200 and 400 pounds. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Hard as Diamond. The most characteristic trait of petrosapiens in their durability, you have unmatched natural defense. While unarmored, your Armor Class is equal to 13 + your Constitution modifier. You can use a shield and still gain this benefit.
Crystallized Body. Your body is capable of reflecting light energy due to your mineral composition. When you take radiant damage, you can use your reaction to project the damage at another creature within 30 feet from you. If the triggering source of damage is a spell, you are considered the new source of it. The new target creature you choose must make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus). On a failed save, the creature takes the same amount of radiant damage you took. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses after you finish a long rest.
Atomic Structure Control. Petrosapiens have great control over their atomic structure, this allows them to create weapons from their body. Your unarmed strikes deal your choice of slashing, bludgeoning, or piercing, but you must declare this before your attack. The damage for your unarmed strikes is 1d6 + your Strength modifier.
Diamond Storm. As an action, you can create a damaging force of crystals to shoot at enemies. All creatures in a 15-foot cone from you must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your Strength modifier + your proficiency bonus). On a failed save, they take 2d4 damage. The typing of this damage is the same as your unarmed strikes. On a successful save, they only take half as much damage. The damage increase to 3d4 at 6th level, 4d4 at 11th, and 5d4 at 16th level. You must finish a short or long rest before using this trait again.
Durable. Your hit point maximum increases by 1, and it increases by 1 every time you gain a level.
A different form of life. Your creature type is construct instead of humanoid. As such, spells like cure wounds don't affect you, and you are immune to spells like crown of madness or dominate person because they specifically target humanoids. You are immune to poison damage, being poisoned, and diseases. You do not need to eat or breathe. Rather than sleeping, you enter an inactive state for 6 hours each day. You do not dream in this state; you are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal.
