Religion[edit]

Worship[edit]

Some classes very nearly require the character to worship regularly, like the Paladin or Cleric. Some items may require the worship of a certain god. Worshipping a god may allow certain spells to be cast by non-divine classes. Some rituals may even involve worshipping a deity to invoke special magics.

Generally, religion and worship plays no large part, but it can be made to have a greater role in game play by directly involving the deities and their churches in the lives of the PCs. There can be everything from a traveling monk who pesters the party into worshipping with him to a full inquisition of non-believers.

These sorts of situations may lead to tense encounters and drawn out adventures for the characters to interact with the church and their gods. Sometimes you may even want to restrict some divine spells and abilities if the character hasn't been acting or roleplaying their piety.

Bringing the churches, the religions, and the deities into play with the PCs can bring some of them to the light or show them the power attainable through divine providence. Show the characters the might of the churches around them and they may want to join them.

Religions[edit]

Primthis[edit]

This is the largest religion in the world and worships the Primary Pantheon. It is so widespread as to have temples in some of the furthest reaches of the world. They believe in the Primthis Myths and most believers worship the duality of Azrus and Surza, but many denominations of this religion worship the lesser gods.

When it comes to sheer force of numbers, Primthis claims it without contest, but it has become rather mainstream and second nature, with many people losing real devotion and simply claiming to believe. Sometimes the truly pious are even ridiculed, but never openly.

The Old Code[edit]

This is claimed to be the oldest religion known. Besides worshipping the Primary Pantheon, they incorporate the Fice and Ice Pantheons as quasideities, demigods, and lesser deities. They believe the power of these gods is less than the Primary Pantheonic deities, but that they still have power in the world, having made the Ice Continent and the Continent of Fire for themselves.

The Floating Gods[edit]

This religion has only a small following. Many of them claim to practice Primthis, but in actuality they revere the Hidden Pantheon, believing the portal to the realms of their gods to be hidden on the mythical Floating Isles.

They are secretive not because of prejudice or oppression, but because they are often ridiculed for their beliefs, which are thought to be foolish and crazy.
