SRD Protection[edit]

So, a number of people have pointed out that our SRD pages, being unprotected, are easily targeted by spammers and vandals. Since this project is a transcription of a legal document, it is unlikely to experience significant changes once complete. Is there any reason why the pages should not all be protected to autoconfirmed only? --Kydo (talk) 03:45, 15 December 2016 (MST)

We need to lock the SRD pages. They are still missing links and whole sections of content, but what is here should be locked. --Green Dragon (talk) 07:12, 15 December 2016 (MST)
This will be resumed pretty soonish. I avoided locking anything because as it is, the PFSRD namespace has been untouched by spammers (I'm not sure there are more than a couple edits in it that aren't mine), and I do check it from time to time. Also in the meantime I've dreamed that a non-admin might take a shine to transcribing some stuff. It does all need protecting, but because it takes a worryingly long time to apply protection to just one page through the website, I was hoping to do it with bot or admin powers somehow. --SgtLion (talk) 12:19, 15 December 2016 (MST)
That's why I suggested autoconfirmed level protection. Most vandals will not take the time to make an account. Most people who do make an account at least intend to put some kind of real effort in. I think it's reasonable that we ask everyone who edits a SRD page have a username for us to know them by. --Kydo (talk) 15:01, 15 December 2016 (MST)
That's a good point, autoconfirmed is a fine protection level to apply. I'll do it for future articles I transcribe, but I still ain't takin' the hours to crash dandwiki while applying protection 'til a bot or similar can do it fer' me. --SgtLion (talk) 15:20, 17 December 2016 (MST)

Erroneous link[edit]

The page is protected so I can't fix this myself, but I assume "Conditions" is supposed to link to PFSRD:Conditions instead of PFSRD:Combat? - Guy (talk) 09:07, 10 September 2017 (MDT)

Traditionally, conditions don't have their own page. I suspect PFSRD:Combat will need to be revised to be more like the 3e/3.5e SRDs and list the conditions on the side.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 10:08, 10 September 2017 (MDT)
To be fair, there is precedent. - Guy (talk) 12:40, 10 September 2017 (MDT)
PFSRD predates 5e SRD, and PF is basically a revised 3.5e, so there's really no precedent. And TBH, I don't like the organization of the 5e SRD. I get that it needs to be different from a d20 game, but I feel like it was written without reference to the 3.5e SRD. For instance, all conditions are grouped on one page instead of separated as their own pages, and conditions are listed under hazards on the main 5e SRD page, and they aren't linked to from the main combat page. But that's a topic for another page.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 15:09, 10 September 2017 (MDT)
If you insist. Either way I think we can agree something should be done about the link on this page (which I'm guessing was a mere oversight?), and there's nothing I can do other than recommend an edit. - Guy (talk) 15:54, 10 September 2017 (MDT)
The link on this page is fine. The problem is that the page it links to hasn't been properly constructed. If I wasn't busy with like 4 other SRD projects, I'd work on this one, but I'll see what I can do.
However, I think SgtLion was a bit hasty when he auto-protected all PFSRD pages since it's far from complete, and I can unprotect this page (and others) if you'd like to work on it :) --GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 16:05, 10 September 2017 (MDT)
Oh yeah, I meant to limit PFSRD protection to autoconfirmed for the time being, sorry about that. This page is just a copy of the SRD:System Reference Document, and I just planned to change links/alter things whatever as needed as the rules were transcribed. --SgtLion (talk) 13:14, 11 September 2017 (MDT)
