While the Covenant's military might is primarily in the form of grunts, jackals, buggers, elites, brutes and hunters, these populous species only make up half of those that owe it their loyalty.

  • Prophets, who make up the majority of the Council of Prophets.
  • Prophet Stoics, who remained on Janjur Qom and benefit from superior physical health.
  • Engineers, the biological machines of the Forerunners inherited by the Covenant.
  • Behemoths, the animalistic hulks.
  • Hunter Serpents, the anti-air hunters.
  • Hunter Slugmen, the smallest, most specialized hunter colonies.
  • High Prophets, who rule the Covenant aboard their Gravity Thrones.
  • Hunter Elders, the oldest, most experienced hunter colonies.
  • Hunter Swarmlord, the largest, most heavily equipped hunter colonies.
  • Prelates, who act as the Covenant's holy super soldiers.
