Orb of Darkness (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Wondrous Item (Orb), Artifact (Requires Attunement)
This fist-sized orb is made of black metal and emits a faint hum that grows louder when its power is active. It is one of the legendary creations of a cult of shadow worshippers who sought to plunge the world into an eternal night. They used it to infiltrate and assassinate their enemies under the cover of darkness. The orb’s origin is largely unknown, but some believe it was forged from a fragment of the Shadowfell.

Darkness. The orb is always surrounded by a sphere of magical darkness with a radius that depends on the environment. If the orb is in direct sunlight or moonlight, the radius is 10 feet. Otherwise, the darkness has a radius of up to 30 feet. The darkness can’t escape a confined space or enter a space that it is not inside. A space can be defined as a room or a box.
Suppress Darkness. Once per dawn, if attuned to the orb, you can use your concentration to suppress the orb’s darkness for up to 1 hour. During this time, the orb does not create any darkness at all.
