When you cast this spell, your or a willing creature’s legs become stuck and rooted to the ground as they turn into wood. Your skin, hair, nails, etc will turn to bark and branches will grow from the upper part of your body as you turn into a tree, still with many of your humanoid features. Your speed becomes 0ft, the area 5ft surrounding you becomes difficult terrain, your AC increases by 3 and your gear is absorbed into the wood. Every ten minutes while in this form, you regain the amount of hit points equal to 1 hit die up until you reach your maximum hit points. Casting this on a creature with 0 hit points will stabilize the creature. While in this form, you are treated as incapacitated. Once the spell ends, the wood cracks and falls away from your body. Over the next hour, the wood rots and breaks away, leaving nothing behind.
While under the effects of the spell, the target is in a form of stasis, which mean that processes that happen over time such as growing, aging or spells that last for a certain period are paused until the effects of the spell end.
At Higher Levels. Casting this spell at higher levels can increase the benefits, duration, and possible recipients of the spell. Casting at 6th-level, you can choose to target two people with the basic effects or you may target one person and increase the amount of hit dice per minute to 2 and restore 4 spell slots of 4th-level or less, which will increase the duration of the spell to 3 hours, 7th-level, you can target three people with the basic effects, target two people and increase the amount of hit dice per minute to 2 and restore 4 spell slots of 4th-level or less, which will increase the duration of the spell to 3 hours, or target one person and increases the amount of hit die per minute to 3, regain all spell slots, and will also regrow any lost limbs but increase the duration to 1 day, 8th-level you can choose to target 4 people with the basic effects, target three people and increase the amount of hit dice per minute to 2 and restore 4 spell slots of 4th-level or less, which will increase the duration of the spell to 3 hours, target two people and increases the amount of hit die per minute to 3, regain all lost spell slots, and will also regrow any lost limbs but increase the duration to 1 day, targeting one person will increase the amount of hit die to 4 hit die per minute, regrows any lost limbs, returns all lost spell slots and cures all magical diseases, but the duration changes to 7 days.
Casting this spell at 9th-level has a slightly different effect. The spell can be cast on 7 willing creatures, which may include themselves. This will allow the target to regain all lost hit points, regrow all lost limbs, cure any magical diseases or curses and regains all spell slots. The spells duration will change to 100 years. The trees will become immune to all attacks that aren’t magical, have an AC of 20, a 200 hit point increase, and the area 10ft around them becomes difficult terrain.
Ritual Variant. You may perform this ritual on up to 7 willing creatures which may include yourself, taking a whole day to cast and you must be at least lv 14 or higher. After their transformation, that target has immunity to all attacks that aren’t magical, an AC of 22, a 300 hit point increase and the area 15ft around it will become difficult terrain. When the spell is cast this way, the effects last for more than 100 years and can last up to eternity if the caster so chooses., only being reversible through a wish spell. While the target is sealed away, a spellcaster may be able to perform a 30-minute ritual where they will take on the effects of the spell for one day, allowing whoever was under the effect of the spell to be free during that period. Once those 24 hours end, the target turns back into a tree and the caster that performed the ritual is freed. If the target dies outside of the tree though, the spellcaster will retain the effects of the spell. After this ritual is performed, it cannot be performed on the same tree for another 50 years. Then, the next time the perform the ritual, the time between when it can be performed again is doubled.
