Kindred[edit]

”A beast I am, lest a beast I become.” - The Riddle

Mortals, Humans, Kine, Livestock, Mortals are average people not part of any supernatural splat. While most mortals are ignorant, some are aware of it and become Hunters, while others learn supernatural talents of their own through years of hard work.

Physical Description[edit]

Mortals come in diverse shapes and sizes.

History[edit]

Mortals have been hunted by supernatural creatures for as long as they both have existed. Supernaturals and mortals have their existences intertwined, despite the power of the supernatural world mortals outnumber supernaturals and could collectively destroy most of them if they put their minds to it, which is why most supernatural creatures like vampires and werewolves keep a strict veil of secrecy. In the past, supernatural beliefs and occurrences were accepted and actively fought against. In recent times however, due in no small part to the efforts of the Technocracy, mortals have become more skeptical to the supernatural.

Some Mortals however have caught on to the Supernatural World. The Second Inquisition is a large group of different government organizations dedicated to the eradication of all Kindred, who have already succeeded at purging kindred influence in some cities like Paris. Some Mortals have harnessed a small amount of supernatural power for themselves through linear magic like True Faith, Thaumaturgy, Psi, and Sorcery.

Society[edit]

Mortals are divided into several nations, religions, and cultures. Some cultures are more superstitious than others, but in the modern era most are skeptical of supernatural phenomena. Whenever the supernatural is exposed, fear and panic is usually the first response, and if not covered up properly, is often followed by violence. Most mortals who are aware of the supernatural world abhor it, becoming Hunters and dedicating their lives to fighting the creatures that stalk the night.
