ACTIONS

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d12 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it is grappled (escape DC 13). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the minotaur lizard can't bite another target.

Swallow. The minotaur lizard makes one bite attack against a Large or smaller creature it is grappling. If the attack hits, the target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the minotaur, and it takes 10 (3d6) acid damage at the start of each of the minotaur lizard's turns.
If the minotaur lizard takes 10 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the minotaur lizard must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate all swallowed creatures, which fall prone in a space within 5 feet of the minotaur lizard. If the minotaur lizard dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse by using 30 feet of movement, exiting prone.

Minotaur lizards are the largest known lizard species in the world, hatching at sizes rivaled by adult giant lizards and growing to rival ancient dragons. However, while their size can be intimidating, one should not fear a minotaur lizard unless cornered; they are notoriously stupid creatures that will try to fit anything they can see in their mouth and almost immediately forget anything they can't see.
Minotaur lizards get their names from the large, bull-like horns that crown their heads, and though they are exclusively carnivorous, they have not been observed using these horns in combat, and instead may use them to attract mates or have kept them as a vestige. On Toril's super-continent, they typically inhabit the same regions as red and copper dragons, though perhaps such dragons instead choose to roost in minotaur lizards' breeding grounds for easy access to food. In Maztica, they primarily feed on giant wasps, sometimes even raiding their underground nests in groups for food and shelter, a role they share with their greatest rivals in Maztica, giant porcupines.
