Barbed Hide. At the start of each of its turns, the porcupine deals 3 (1d6) piercing damage to any creature grappling it.

ACTIONS

Quills. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1) piercing damage.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +1 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 (1d4 + 1) piercing damage, or twice as much if the target is an object or structure made of wood.

REACTIONS

Quill Thrust. When a creature within 5 feet misses the porcupine with a melee attack, the porcupine makes a quill attack against it.

Giant Porcupines are much larger than their smaller cousins. Due to their size, it isn't uncommon for one to consume multiple trees in a single winter, and they typically have to consume some wood even outside of the winter to sustain themselves in the absence of leafy megaflora. Some cultures might scavenge the territory of a giant porcupine for quills to use as spears, while others might hunt them for their abundance of food, while another might even craft special saddles to use them as mounts.
