Armor (light, medium, or heavy), very rare (major)

At first glance, this set of scale mail armor is no different than the rest other than it being much lighter weight; however, upon closer inspection, you notice a few cracks here and there, and... is it breathing!?

In a wild experiment, a mad wizard fused together a trapped mimic and a nearby set of armor. As a bonus action, you may transform the armor into any other type of armor. As the armor lives, it must feed. A meal the size of six rations will sate one stack of its hunger. One stack of hunger is gained if 24 hours pass without a proper meal. Extra or insufficient rations do not roll over into the next 24 hours. Only one stack of hunger can be sated every 24 hours. Feeding it does not increase its weight. It is dormant unless equipped, and it then begins at zero stacks of hunger.
Should its hunger grow, the following effects occur:

0. Nothing.
1. It occasionally anxiously shuffles.
2. Above effect. In addition, it frequently grumbles, growls, and leaves a trail of viscous saliva. You have disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.
3. Above effects. In addition, it attempts to drive lashing tentacles into the ground to hold you in place. Your speed is halved.
4. Above effects. In addition, it yowls and roars in hunger, and most tentacles have taken root. You are restrained.
5. Above effects. In addition, you take 3d6 piercing at the start of each of your turns. If you die while wearing the armor, it consumes your body over the course of 1 minute.
