Matsuma's Tomb (Shard Ne'Vaal Supplement)

Matsuma was a legendary general who fought to unite all of the island of Toryu under his dynasty's rule. He was known as the demon warlord by enemies, for he was a beast on the battlefield. As a result of betrayal by his trusted advisors, he was led into an unwinnable battle by enemies. His ultimate defeat led to great shame, as he was unable to die honorably. Instead, he was paraded like livestock to the opposing general, who then beheaded him. While his body was thrown into animal feed, his head was kept as a trophy. It is said that the next day, his enemy general was found dead in his tent, with his and Matsuma's head nowhere to be found.

Ill Happenings[edit]

Strange occurrences began to plague the soldiers, as well as the ruling dynasty who defeated Matsuma for the imperial seat. Unexplainable fevers rose among the population and storms without end rained lightning bolts onto the land. Fearing a curse from the dead, the emperor and his advisors had a tomb erected to appease Matsuma's spirit. This supposedly worked, as the strange events ceased after. But around the tomb continues to be a strange noise and a feeling of being watched now and then.

Scholars believed that the whole incident was a bunch of hooey. They figured for a long time that Matsuma's head became a varghoulie with infected the general with a dire form of varghoulie fever, thus severing the head.

As of recent times, the tomb has become destroyed in light of the Gorge. The main portion of it is found in the Ensen Shard, on the western lip. Matsuma's vengeful ghost haunts the area in the form of giant flaming skull.
