Magic Nails (5e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki

Wondrous item, rare (minor)

To the untrained eye, these nails appear to be completely normal. However, they never seem to rust, break, or show any sign of wear and tear. These nails come in a bag of 30. They have the following various effects:

  • You can spend 1 minute driving 5 of these nails to a door that is no larger than 5 feet in width and 10 feet in height. This door becomes jammed, unable to open, and no key will work on it. Casting identify on the door will reveal it as a magical item. After 1 hour, the nails lose their magic and the door is no longer jammed.
  • As an action, you can spread 10 nails to cover a 5-foot-square area. Iron bars shoot up from this area and make it impassable for 1 hour, after which the bars will rust and disintegrate, along with the nails. A creature that is in the area must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw. On a successful save, they are shunted into an unoccupied, adjacent space of their choice. On a failed save, they are impaled by the nails, taking 2d6 magical piercing damage and becoming restrained. At the start of each of their next turns, they can attempt a DC 15 Strength check, managing to tear away from the nails and move to an adjacent, unoccupied space, using all their movement on a successful check.
  • A willing creature can swallow a nail as an item interaction, as though ingesting a potion. For 1 hour, the creature cannot speak any deliberate lies. An affected creature is aware of the spell and can thus avoid answering questions to which it would normally respond with a lie. Such a creature can be evasive in its answers as long as it remains within the boundaries of the truth.
