Lily's Longbow (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Weapon (longbow), artifact (requires attunement)
Lily made a bow of a rare type of wood a long time ago, making it on par with her sister's rod, but as a ranged weapon. Lily always tried to keep the bow out of the wrong hands, and when it falls into villainous grasps, Lily would send her clerics to right that wrong, sometimes leaving the bow in the hold of the cleric that brought her bow back to her, but most of the time holding onto it with a tighter grasp.
Random Properties. The Lily's Longbow has the following random properties:
- 1 minor beneficial property
- 1 major beneficial property
- 1 minor detrimental property
Plant Shot. Every shot taken with this bow has a 50% chance of casting a smaller version of the spell entangle, a version that, like normal, hits the ground, but it only hits one target. When the bow doesn't cast this version of the spell, then it simply does an extra 6 (1d6 + 3) poison damage.
Animal Speech. When you are attuned to this weapon, you are able to talk to animals, whether or not you share a language or if the animal even knows a language that humanoids speak. Additionally, you are able to cast animal friendship as an action. Once you cast the spell, the longbow must recharge for 24 hours before you can cast it again.
Destroying the Lily's Longbow. For the bow to be destroyed, it must be broken into several pieces, then arranged into a pentagram and finally, set on fire. If this process is not done in this order, the bow will simply regenerate.
