Leomund's Gem Staff (5e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Weapon (quarterstaff), uncommon (requires attunement)

A rather light staff, made up of fine zalantar wood. The weight allows even the weakest of mages to occasionally use it as a melee weapon, should they have to. You have a +1 to attack and damage rolls with this weapon.

In the centre of the gem staff is a small opening. You can place certain gemstones worth at least 10 gp in this opening. If you do, the staff will glow and any attack that hits will do 2 points of extra damage. Only one gemstone can be placed in the staff at any time and it can be removed or replaced. The gemstones and associated damage types are listed below.

Once attuned to this weapon, the user may also imbue the gemstones with a spell in the same way (cost & time) as creating a spell scroll. Each gemstone holds a single charge, which recharges every day at dawn. Only one gemstone may be mounted at a time, but they may be switched out during a long rest. Enchanted gemstones cannot be used while unmounted, though an Arcana check (DC = 10+spell level) will reveal what spell it is enchanted with.

Gemstone Damage Type Spell School
Blue quartz Cold Abjuration/Conjuration
Hematite Necrotic Necromancy
Malachite Acid Transmutation
Rhodochrosite Fire Evocation
Tiger Eye Radiant Divination/Illusion
Lapis Lazuli Force Enchantment
