Weapon (Pistol), Legendary (Major) (Requires attunement)

This ornate legendary +3 pistol is crafted from the finest materials available and is said to be blessed by lady luck herself, built for the hands of a true marksman. The barrel is made from pure adamantine, while the fixtures and internals are mithril, both plated in alchemic platinum quicksilver. The stock is alchemically treated black lacquered bronze wood, adorned with platinum inlays, runic etchings, and set with opalescent ivory. The pistol was unknowingly crafted by accident by a mad gnome tinkerer in their sleep after they had strange visions of divine inspiration.

The weapon seems to have a mind of its own and always slips through the hands of all who seek to wield its power unjustly. Once only thought of as a legend, the weapon eventually found its way into the hands of a tyrant king, only for the king to go mad and kill himself in front of his court, thinking himself a just king. The pistol was lost shortly afterward and now usually ends up in the hands of those who need it most, renegades and revolutionaries, only to disappear after it is no longer needed. This fact has spawned the legend of the wandering hand cannon being at every turning point in history, even though it has no basis in reality.

This magic weapon warns you of imminent danger, cocking its hammer in anticipation. The sound of the hammer cocking is only audible to you and your nearby allies. While this weapon is on your person, you have advantage on your initiative rolls. In addition, you and any of your companions within 30 feet of you can't be surprised, except when incapacitated by something other than non-magical sleep. The weapon magically awakens you and your companions within range if any of you are naturally sleeping when combat begins.

When you make a ranged attack with this weapon and hit a target, you can cause the ammunition to ricochet toward a second target within 10 feet of the first. You then make a ranged attack against the second target. This weapon is also blessed with a strange form of luck, granting it a highly destructive critical attack. When you roll a natural 20 with this magic weapon, the target takes an extra 2d6 piercing damage.
