Domains[edit]

Kurma is a god-like entity that rules over The Void, but also has a passion for knowledge, creation, and destruction. His power comes from his intimate connection to and control over The Void, which also allows him to access all dimensions at any point in their many timelines[1]. It is theorized that there may be more like him, or possibly more versions of him, but since they would have their own voids, history, and followers, the only person who could know would be him, or possibly The Host[2].

Appearances[edit]

Kurma's physical form exists only in The Void, as he has become completely suffused with its energy. He has the appearance of a gargantuan iridescent grey sea turtle, with long, thick, black spines protruding from the sides of his shell that gently curve backward. He also has swirling, shifting lines of white light across his skin, and his eyes are fully black. On his back are 13 separate biomes—one on each scute—with 5 smaller ones down the middle and 4 larger ones on each side. Going from front to back; there is a savanna, prairie, marsh, and group of plateaus on the left, a swamp, oak forest, taiga forest, and jungle on the right, and a desert, sea, cherry forest, mountain cluster, and tundra in the middle. There is also a large hexagonal castle on his head, with 6 towers to house his most trusted disciples and some of their followers, as well as an orchard frequented by The Host.

When he sends a part of his being into another dimension or plane, Kurma will take the material form of an old Tortle. His skin will be a sort of sandy color and will appear to be almost cracked in many places. His large and heavy shell will be black, and his rarely-open eyes will be clouded over. He will occasionally have a long walking stick or portable stool, as taking a physical form in another dimension is taxing for him. More likely, he will communicate with someone telepathically, even when they try to block him out with magic.

Relations[edit]

Kurma is master of The Host, and has also met and grown fond of (sometimes befriended) many neutral-aligned vestiges, such as Void, Verminoth, and Adoeak. He is also kind towards lawful vestiges but dismissive of ones with more chaotic or evil tendencies.

Followers[edit]

Excluding the Host, Kurma has only 6 prominent disciples: Ea the Hybrid, Savana the Reaper, Tor the Divine, Chairon the Wise, Nebiru the Forsaken, and Ego the Rabid. Each of his disciples has their own followers, such as The Cult of Ea or Chairon's Library. Most of Kurma's followers, and their followers, were taken from their worlds directly, but some had their souls and bodies duplicated and extracted at the moment right before their deaths. Other than his disciples and The Host, the followers of Kurma who live in The Void reside in one or more of the 13 biomes (though a select few reside on Kurma's underbelly, the home of the Void Wraiths).

  1. In a meta sense, this essentially means that he, and anything he controls, can realistically be put into any campaign at any time/time period.
  2. In a meta sense, this is how he could be in separate campaigns with separate histories, independent of one another.
