Jaffa Guard (5e Creature)
Jaffa Guard[edit]
Medium humanoid (jaffa), lawful evil Armor Class 16 (chain mail)
Saving Throws Str +6, Con +5 Brave. The jaffa has advantage on saving throws against being frightened. Incubating Parasite. The jaffa has resistance to poison damage and advantage on Constitution saving throws against poison and disease while it hosts a goa'uld larva. Mask. The jaffa can use a bonus action to cover its head with a collapsible mask or lower the mask. While the mask covers its head, the jaffa has darkvision out to 60 feet and disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks, and each hostile creature that starts its turn within 10 feet of the jaffa must succeed on a DC 11 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened until the end of its next turn. ACTIONSMultiattack. The jaffa makes three melee weapon attacks or two ranged weapon attacks. Ma'Tok Staff. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit in melee or +4 to hit at range, reach 5 ft. or range 100/300 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage if used to make a melee attack, or 15 (2d12 + 2) radiant damage if used to make a ranged attack. Zat'nik'tel. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 30/120, one target. Hit: 11 (2d8 + 2) lightning damage and the target must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed until the end of its next turn. While a creature is paralyzed in this way, it has vulnerability to all damage. REACTIONSLoyal Bodyguard. When a goa'uld host within 5 feet of the jaffa is hit by an attack, the jaffa causes itself to be hit instead. |
Only the most skilled and loyal jaffa are entrusted with the sacred duty of serving their goa'uld overlords as bodyguards. These elite jaffa are distinguished from the rank-and-file warriors by collapsible helmets resembling the head of an animal associated with their specific overlord, marking them as an instrument of their god's will. When a jaffa guard wears his helmet, his footfalls become louder, and his presence strikes fear into weak-hearted onlookers. Such terror tactics give the guard a subtle edge on the battlefield, though against the brave or the stealthy it only serves to make them more conspicuous. |
