Some portions of the content below may not be what you expect from traditional game content. When implementing this content, DMs and Players should read over all the information carefully, and consider the following specific notes of interest:
This feat could potentially allow a player character access to a single high-level spell such as wish at low levels, albeit at a great personal risk. If you don't wish to allow this, then restrict the level of spell that they can take to ones of a level that are less than half their character level rounded down.

Innate Talent

You have an innate talent for recreating a single magical effect. Choose a single spell of 1st-level or higher from any class list. You know and can innately cast that spell using this feature, requiring no components. Choose a spellcasting ability between Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma to use for this spell when you select it.

To determine how often you can cast the spell, take half of your character level (rounded down) and subtract the level of the spell, then refer to the following table:

Result Use Limitation
-(-7) You gain 1d4+2 levels of exhaustion after using this feature and can't use it again until you've finished a long rest and no longer have exhaustion.
(-6)-(-4) You gain 1d4+1 levels of exhaustion after using this feature and can't use it again until you've finished a long rest and no longer have exhaustion.
(-3)-(-1) You gain 1d4 levels of exhaustion after using this feature and can't use it again until you've finished a long rest and no longer have exhaustion.
0-3 Once per long rest.
4 An amount of times equal to half your proficiency bonus per long rest.
5 An amount of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest, regaining one use from a short rest.
6+ At will.

You can take this feat multiple times, each time choosing a different spell.
