Howitzers bridge the gap between field guns and mortars, being capable of both direct and indirect artillery fire. Light howitzers, sometimes called gun-howitzers, typically fire projectiles between 100mm and 200mm, and are primarily utilized for their portability. When used for indirect fire, the howitzer can hit targets behind cover.

Before it can be fired, the howitzer must be loaded and aimed. It takes two actions to load the weapon, two actions to aim it, and one action to fire it.

Direct Fire: Ranged Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, range 3/7 miles, one target. Hit: 165 (30d10) piercing damage. Hit or miss, each creature within 30 feet of the target must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw, taking 83 (15d10) bludgeoning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A howitzer has the Armor Piercing (-5) property.

Indirect Fire: Ranged Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, range 7/14 miles, one target. Hit: 165 (30d10) piercing damage. Hit or miss, each creature within 30 feet of the target must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw, taking 55 (10d10) bludgeoning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A howitzer has the Armor Piercing (-5) property.
