A howdah is a sturdy riding or fighting platform carried on the back of a Large or larger creature such as an elephant or camel. Smaller versions are not unheard of, though, when used by halflings or other small races. When used for war, the howdah provides cover, an elevated field of view, and a resting place for soldiers to store equipment. Riders of a howdah are considered to be mounted on the creature carrying the howdah.
