Herbalism (Grisaire Supplement)

Grisaire has plenty of the usual normal plants like our own world, but it also has a lot of unique plants with a variety of properties that can be used in herbalism. This page includes certain and optional notes on how mundane things like certain spices and herbs might be used in practices of food as well as herbalism. • Sontoris is a rare plant characterized by tiny violet flowers on a prickly green stem that grows in straight rods. It is usually found in tundra environments, alongside lichens. But it is temperamental. The temperature to sustain it must be around melting point of ice. The plant dies easily in cold and heat.

• Venostick is a harvested material from the Walestrian tree. The bark of the walestrian is taken and treated with preservatives that give it the appearance of a cinnamon stick. However, this spice is actually poisonous, and a useful tool for assassins. Just swap it with a chef's cinnamon stick and their entire meal becomes a danger. Consuming below a tablespoon of venostick powder makes a creature poisoned for 1 hour. Eating a tablespoon and over forces the consumer to make a DC15 Constitution saving throw. Upon failing, they become paralyzed and unable to breathe, immediately beginning to suffocate. Unlike with normal suffocation, this only takes 6 turns before the consumer dies. Because of the amount needed to be consumed for this effect, coupled with the cost of producing this rare ingredient, venostick isn't used much.
