The heavy steel plate shield is made of 2 solid steel plates, both 1’ 6” thick, each steel plate is a square with each side being 2’ 6” long, they stack on top of each other vertically. The top plate has a small slit to see through when the shield is raised. The shield can be raised as a bonus action after melee attack or unarmed strike while the shield is lowered, or as a regular action while the shield is lowered. The shield can be lowered as a reaction to being attacked while the shield is raised or as a regular action while the shield is raised. While the shield is raised, the user has Disadvantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) and Wisdom (Perception) checks and moves at half speed. When the shield is raised, the user also gains resistance to slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning damage from non-magical attacks, as well as immunity to non-magical ranged attacks that deal slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning damage.
