Gojira[edit]
Alignment. chaotic neutral
Domains. Nature, Tempest
Divine Rank. Greater Deity
- When man was still gathered around campfires and hunting with the most rudimentary tools, there were beasts of great power known as kaiju. And no other such beast harnessed the destructive power of nature, other than the one they called king of the monsters... Gojira. No other beast of the earth or abomination of the realms beyond can match the power, will, and fury of Gojira, and henceforth the beast became an object of worship to the first human civilizations who called the coastal regions Gojira frequented home. Godzilla is considered to be the alpha species of the physical realm, seeing as it has survived for thousands if not millions of years unopposed in any way.
- Gojira resembles a bipedal archosaur, the base clade from which dinosaurs, pliosaurs, pterosaurs, and crocodilians originate from. Standing around 3-400 ft. tall, 550 ft. long, and weighing in at around 90k tons, Gojira is one of the largest known creatures on earth.
- Gojira's relationship with the pantheon is a many splintered one. Whenever gods of evil or destruction have come to the physical realm to do away with it, they are usually met with extreme opposition from Gojira, with whatever visitor usually being repelled quickly.
- It is unknown whether any current civilizations still offer worship or tribute to Gojira. Shamans who 'served' the beast usually dressed in reptile skin with blue body paint, offering virgin sacrifice or the first fruits of the harvest/hunt on a raft set do drift at sea where Gojira was last seen. If the raft returned with the harvest or hunt, it was a sign that the coming year would yield famine, and if the virgin were to return, it was a sign that few children would be born in the coming year.
- Temples and shrines to Gojira are common in coastal regions/islands, especially in areas with warmer climate where the sea is more comfortable for the large beast. It is easier to encounter Gojira at sea, but if a ruler or civilization has done something to upset the balance of nature, Godzilla will march as far inland as he needs to lay waste to their city(s).
- It isn't entirely uncommon to find large, black scales washed up on the shore, or left on the ground after Gojira has rampaged/fought another god, titan, or kaiju. The color blue is usually used to represent Gojira, but sometimes black, green, and orange are used as well.
