Gnome Tortoise Blade | +3 | 1d4 | - | 10 gp | 3 lb | Light blade | Off-hand, Shield |
Constructed from the shell of a tortoise, this was designed by gnomes to be used in their off-hand. It is useful in cramped tunnels or warrens where swinging a weapon is difficult. The shell is strapped to the wielder's wrist, with a dagger-like blade jutting out forwards where the fingers would be.
- Shield
The gnome tortoise blade is a light shield. It can be enchanted as a magic shield or a magic weapon, but not both. A gnome tortoise blade enchanted as a magic weapon does not occupy a character's magic item arms slot. Although a character cannot use two shields at the same time, a character wielding a gnome tortoise blade enchanted as a weapon can employ arms slot items such as bracers.
- Off-hand
A gnome tortoise blade is light enough that you can hold it and attack effectively with it while holding a weapon in your main hand. You can't attack with both weapons in the same turn, unless you have a power that lets you do so, but you can attack with either weapon.
