A furnix appears as a great bird of red and golden plumage, with feathers that glint brightly in the sun. It is said the ancestor of this rare, majestic bird received a blessing from Din herself—and this is why a furnix can survive simply by consuming flame and warmth, or so the tale goes. Furnixes are usually only found around areas of immense heat, most often including active volcanoes and occasionally arid deserts. A furnix's high roost is defended with magical gouts of flame shot from high in the sky. Rarely does a furnix approach invaders directly, preferring to strike from afar with scorching ray attacks. |
