Fire Absorption. Whenever the furnix is subjected to fire damage, it takes no damage and instead gains a number of hit points equal to the fire damage dealt.

Flyby. The furnix doesn't provoke an opportunity attack when it flies out of an enemy's reach.

Innate Spellcasting. The furnix's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 12, +4 to hit with spell attacks). The furnix can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: light, produce flame, scorching ray

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The furnix makes two talon attacks.

Talon. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.

A furnix appears as a great bird of red and golden plumage, with feathers that glint brightly in the sun. It is said the ancestor of this rare, majestic bird received a blessing from Din herself—and this is why a furnix can survive simply by consuming flame and warmth, or so the tale goes. Furnixes are usually only found around areas of immense heat, most often including active volcanoes and occasionally arid deserts. A furnix's high roost is defended with magical gouts of flame shot from high in the sky. Rarely does a furnix approach invaders directly, preferring to strike from afar with scorching ray attacks.
