The desolate ruins of Yharnam, [1] |
Lost, abandoned, or simply forgotten, you grew up in the desolate ruins of Yharnam, scavenging to survive. Whether you were left to perish by frightened villagers or simply never knew the warmth of a home, you endured in the darkness, learning to fend for yourself. The Hunt was always there, a distant nightmare creeping into your waking world. The beasts, the plague, and the madness—these were your only companions.
You have learned to navigate the ruins, to avoid the watchful gaze of the Hunt, and to survive when others would fall. You do not flinch at horror; instead, you adapt.
Skill Proficiencies: Stealth, Perception
Tool Proficiencies: Thieves' Tools or Disguise Kit
Equipment: A worn hood or mask that conceals your identity, a rusted but functional dagger, a pouch containing 10 blood echoes, and a small memento from your forgotten past (such as a locket, a torn note, or a broken toy).
Feature: Shadow of the Ruins[edit]
You have an innate ability to move unseen and unheard in ruined places. While in cities, ruins, or abandoned settlements, you gain advantage on Stealth checks made to avoid detection. Additionally, you can always find basic sustenance, such as edible scraps or safe shelter, even in the most forsaken places.
Alternate Feature: Marked by the Hunt[edit]
The Hunt has touched you, whether by fate or misfortune. Hunters, beasts, and eldritch entities recognize something in you—perhaps a survivor’s instinct or an unspoken connection to the madness of Yharnam. NPCs involved in the Hunt react to you with either fascination or suspicion. You may find it easier to gain information from them, but you also draw unwanted attention.
Suggested Characteristics[edit]
Forsaken Children have been shaped by suffering, growing into hardened survivors. Their past haunts them, and whether they seek vengeance, purpose, or simply to understand why they were abandoned, their journey is one of self-discovery amid the horror of the Hunt.
