Fool's Card (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Wondrous Item (Playing Card), Very Rare (requires attunement) An enchanted playing card that appears to be a Fool Card as described in WotC's Book of Many Things (pg 13), however on closer inspection the enchantment seems to be incomplete...
As an action, you can brandish this card at one creature you can see within 30 feet of yourself. The target must make a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or they won't be able to cast spells or activate magic items, have disadvantage on all saving throws, and other creatures will have resistance to all damage it deals. Once this property is used, it can't be used again until the next dawn.
When brandishing the card, roll a d20. If you roll a 1, you are instantly sucked into card and become the image on its face as it harmlessly falls to the ground. The card then functions as a normal Fool Card and any attempts to identify it will reveal it as such. You may also willingly be sucked into the card by brandishing it with the desire to do so. Any creature trapped inside the card becomes functionally immortal; no longer aging, need to eat, sleep or breathe and enters into a dream-like state where it can see out of the card like a window but is otherwise incapacitated, unable to move or speak and will have trouble keeping track of the passage of time. If the magic of the card is used while the creature is still inside, they are rendered unconscious until the next dawn. To free a trapped creature from the card, one must cast a remove curse spell or similar magic on the card, however doing so will return it to its cursed state. Alternatively, a willing creature may take the trapped creature's place in order to free them. The freed creature will then appear in front of the card as it falls to the ground. If the card is destroyed, the creature inside it will be destroyed as well. |
