Explosive Bullets (10) (5e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Any modern firearm which uses bullets for its ammunition can fire explosive bullets. On a hit, an explosive bullet releases both extreme heat and concussive force, dealing an additional 1d6 bludgeoning damage and 1d6 fire damage. Explosive bullets, contrary to what you might think, don't actually contain enough explosive power to have an appreciable area effect - there's only so much power you can pack into a pistol or rifle bullet.

Explosive bullets that are also semi-armor piercing or armor piercing exist, gaining the benefits of both types of ammunition. While it's a more expensive optional combination, and therefore not universal, it's quite common because explosive bullets are more effective if they can penetrate a surface layer of armor.
