Enchanter's Breath[edit]

Price per dose: 7500 gp
Type: Ingested or Inhaled

This insidious poison is made by skillful alchemists and enchanters from Mindfog Pollen. Its most frequent users are unscrupulous nobles who don't mind getting their hands dirty if it means rulers favor them. If put in food, it will make the food taste somewhat sweet. It can also be worn as a perfume by someone who is immune to the effects, most likely via an antidote or the spell Protection from Poison. A creature exposed to Enchanter's Breath must make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw. On a success, nothing happens. On a failure, after 10 minutes, the poison takes effect. A creature immune to being charmed automatically succeeds on the saving throw.

A creature under the effect of Enchanter's Breath has its eyes tinted slightly pink. This requires a DC 18 Wisdom (Perception) check to notice. Once the poison takes effect, for a duration of one day, the creature is charmed by the first creature it sees. If it can no longer see that creature, it is no longer charmed by it, and instead is charmed by the nearest creature it can see. It also has disadvantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks and Wisdom and Charisma saving throws for the same duration. Finally, when interacting with the creature it is charmed by, it treats the charmer's requests as if the charmer had cast Suggestion. However, the charmer must make the suggestion seem in line with the creature's ethics in order for the suggestion to take effect.

The creature can make a DC 23 Wisdom saving throw each hour that it is under the effect of this poison. On a success, the effect ends early and the creature knows it was manipulated. However, if the effect lasts for the full 24 hours, the creature thinks that all of the choices it made while under the effect of the poison were its own. If targeted by spells that remove either poison or the charmed condition, the effect ends as if it had succeeded on the Wisdom saving throw.

If the poison is administered to the same creature every day for 1 month, and it lasts for its full duration each time, the creature is permanently under the effects of this poison and can make no more Wisdom saving throws. If the poison takes effect like this, the creature is charmed by the creature it spent the most time charmed by during the month. The poison can still be cured, however, by spells such as Protection from Poison, or any effect that removes the charmed condition.
