Empty Spoon (5e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Wondrous item (Spoon), uncommon

This plain, unadorned spoon is made from an indeterminate metal. It appears fairly old and worn except for the bowl, which gleams as though freshly polished. It is the size and shape of a standard tea spoon.

The bowl of this spoon is always empty.

Anything that enters the bowl of the spoon disappears after a moment, leaving it clean once more. If part of a larger object is within the spoon, an inconceivably smooth surface will be left behind as only the portion of the object within the spoon is removed. There is no visible effect or evidence of what is happening, the spoon is simply full one moment and empty again the next.

(This object can be either a simple curiosity or a devastatingly effective tool depending on who gets a hold of it and what you're willing to let them get away with. The question of what is happening to the disappeared material, if it's discovered that it is going somewhere and not simply being destroyed, could be a great way to introduce fun new encounters to the party as the inhabitants of the spoon's dumping ground come looking for the people littering in their home. However, that may not be enough to offset the mayhem that someone creative could get up to with this item. Dispense to an adventuring party at your own risk. Gods' speed, and good luck.)
