Ella-Mae's Brooch (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Wondrous item, rare (major) (requires attunement) Ella-Mae's brooch is a beautiful heirloom brooch that enhances your negotiations, it is also a cursed item. When arcana is used upon the item is will glow with moderate enchantment magic. If identify is used on this item it will reveal that the brooch will cause any person that you are bartering with to give you a 20% discount in any negotiation. The target must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or say "but for you dear it will only cost " 80 % of their original stated request. (a 20% discount). On a successful save nothing happens and the target is not aware of the item's effect other than a mild feeling of pride in themselves. Example: Character asks tavern keeper how much a night at the inn and a meal costs. Tavern keeper rolls DC 15 Wisdom save and fails, responds "It is 10 silver per night, but for you dear it will only cost 8 silver." The price will be the original price for any others in the character's party. This item is also cursed and can only be removed by use of a remove curse spell or similar effect. The curse will not reveal itself until the character attempts to take an action that would be seen as uncouth in polite company. When the DM determines a situation has come up, before the character takes the action a voice will be heard inside their head. The voice sounds as if it is coming from a deeply southern belle, she will question the characters motives "Now sweetheart, if you take that man's gold, how is he supposed to provide for himself? Besides, what would the ladies in the garden club think?" The item does not prevent the character from taking any actions, but will nag at them for any dubious decisions. |
