Distasteful Dust (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Wondrous item, rare A packet of dust that provokes disgust and disdain when thrown Found in a small packet, this fine dust glitters and shifts between grey and transparency when thrown. The packet contains enough dust to cover 300 square feet of material. When thrown on an object, the object becomes magically tainted for 2d4 hours. A creature that perceives the object must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or become acutely disgusted with it for the duration of the magic. Creatures that have a strong personal relationship with the object (i.e. a family heirloom, a letter from a loved one, or a gift from their mentor), creatures with truesight, and creatures that are immune to being charmed automatically succeed their saving throw. A creature affected in this way will resist approaching, touching, or staring at the object, and will believe it to be of no value regardless of its original monetary worth. Exactly how they find the object distasteful varies based on the individual, but all affected creatures perceive it to have characteristics that they find fundamentally foul. Artifacts and magic items that are very rare or legendary are unaffected by the dust. When thrown on a creature, other creatures that fail their saving throw perceive the target as worthless trash, the very lowest of bums, vagrants, and outcasts. They will avoid approaching, conversing, or interacting with the target as much as possible. This includes facing the target in combat: affected creatures will focus on other opponents whenever possible, keeping their attacks indirect and at a distance when forced to deal with the target. Creatures that succeed on their saving throw to resist the effects of Distasteful Dust become permanently immune to its effects. |
