Demonclaw (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Weapon (greatsword), artifact (requires attunement)
An abnormally massive greatsword, akin to a sharpened slab of metal, with flaming runes etched into it. The blade once belonged to the Demon Prince of Sloth, Kalagru, before the demon was slain and the blade was taken by a long forgotten warrior
Random Properties. The Demonclaw has the following random properties:
- 2 minor beneficial properties
- 1 major beneficial property
- 2 minor detrimental properties
- 1 major detrimental property
Power of the Bound Prince. Demonclaw is a +3 magic greatsword that deals 4d10 slashing damage instead of the normal 2d6. Additionally, the blade lands a critical hit on a roll of 18 - 20.
Might of Abyssal Flames. Demonclaw deals an additional 3d8 fire damage on attacks made with the blade. This damage ignores resistances, and creatures that would normally regain hit points from fire damage instead regain no hit points and are treated as having resistance to fire damage. Nonmagical flammable objects hit by Demonclaw are set on fire. The fire is considered nonmagical.
Curse of Sloth. When you land a critical hit on a creature with Demonclaw, the creature’s movement speed is halved and has disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws and skill checks. This effect can only be removed through the Greater Restoration spell or similar magic.
Frenzy. Whenever you take the attack option on your turn and land an attack at least once with Demonclaw, you can make one additional attack on that turn with Demonclaw, or two extra attacks if the first attack with Demonclaw was a critical hit.
Destroying the Demonclaw. Demonclaw can only be destroyed by drenching it in the blood of seven demon princes representing each of the deadly sins and subsequently taking it to the positive plane, where it can then be destroyed only by the Wish spell.
