Race Description[edit]
A corrupted version of the natural elf, these elves formed a bond with a dark benefactor, who granted them great power in exchange for their subservience to their will. These Elves gain the ability to see in to the ethereal realm, and as a result gain a more true form of vision, seeing the world for how it really is, and not how it's projected to be. Dark Elves can see in to other worlds and dimensions as well, and are granted the unnatural power to shift time and space around them, giving them incredible power. Due to their low ranking status as a demon however, this only manifests itself in a number of effects. While Dark Elves all strive to achieve a status of Godhood and divinity, few ever make it to this point, despite their unnatural arcane abilities. Dark Elves are inherently Arcane creatures, but do not always follow the path of arcane magic, although most are heavily invested in to their religion and Gods. While some grow to find their condition as a curse or a blessing despite forgoing their chosen Gods, many make the decision to stick with the dark forces that changed them for the rest of their lives.
Dark Elves make naturally good rogues, sorcerers, rangers and shamans, and do well with any class that needs wisdom, dexterity or Charisma. They do particularly well as invokers or Avengers, and due to their religious affinity, albeit it dark, they naturally are inclined to more divine rolls. Despite this, Dark Elves tend to excel at primal or martial roles, particularly the Ranger or Rogue, but due well in other areas as well. Despite being inherently arcane, they mostly gravitate towards dark, unchecked powers, such as those exhibited by the warlock or sorcerer. This stands in contrast to the more refined abilities of the mage, but is no less powerful as raw chaotic magic. Dark Elves are not immoral, but often worship dark Gods in exchange for their powers, seeing it as a necessary sacrifice, and but one element to influence the world. Most are highly disciplined and very goal oriented, and their immortality and lack of aging means they can dedicate their entire lives towards particular goals. While elves naturally live long lives, Dark Elves are essentially immortal, and may live for hundreds of years without Ask Dark Elves constantly seek challenge and danger however, few make it past a millenia, but some are known to have lived for thousands of years.
Dark Elves achieve their transformation after being isolated in a cave for 30 days and 30 nights. After prolonged sensory deprivation and isolation, heavy drug use and etching symbols over their entire body, after this pain staking after and grueling task, both showing their commitment to, and capability for the unnatural powers they'll receive, they are granted their divinity, and undergo a grotesque transformation in to their new, ageless form.
Physical Qualities[edit]
Dark Elves are almost always lean and muscular, seemingly unnatural large for their size. Whether large or skinny, they are always athletically built, representing their peak physical form they will maintain over their centuries of existence, a form of perfection for their mortal form. They sprout large wings on their back that are vestigial without the right training and development, and horns that sprout from their head. They possess goat legs, and other bear similar resemblance to the Satyr, only much darker in nature. Between 125 and 240 pounds and 5'6 and 6'4, they are not all that much larger than ordinary elves, save for their extra appendages and unnatural body parts. As Dark Elves are immortal, their body no longer ages, and they are capable of living for hundreds, if not thousands of years.
However many Dark Elves fanatical devotions to their cause, leads to an early death, or the lack of any wisdom gained from their years of experience. Many more do branch off and become enlightened individuals, pursuing their own path. Dark Elves are technically demons, and thus bear many qualities relevant to this, usually sprouting twisting horns or other features from their body, and having glowing and etched runes. Dark Elves often times wear a blindfold, as they can see in every direction regardless of their eyes and this not only serves as an act of intimidation to many, but also aids them in ensuring they are always seeing in to the other realm, the true realm, the Twisting Nether, that connects this world. Every spot in the world we think of is connected differently in the twist nether, allowing movement and transport between two distant and seemingly unconnected spaces. Those with the vision to see this and the training and skill can move between these areas freely. A Dark Elf is not simply teleporting anywhere he wants to go when he travels in this way, but instead following the closest predetermined path of the twisting nether to a location that only he can see. There are many connections only the enlightened can see. Dark Elves are often scarred from their experiences in these realms, and frequently transform their scars in to symbols or enhance them with tattoos as signs of battle and devotion. Dark Elves are not evil in general, but tend to be fanatically devoted to their cause, which can lead to extreme actions many would consider evil.
