Dancing Blade (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Weapon (Rapier), Rare An elegant-looking rapier with a shining steel blade. The hilt is adorned with a selection of precious gems, and a small crystal orb on the pommel. In normal circumstances, this blade is enchanted, adding +1 to Attack and Damage rolls. Entrapped within the crystal orb is a tiny and temperamental demon. He loves to sing and dance within his tiny prison. If the wielder is willing to sing him a song, he will reward them. If the wielder sings, make a Performance Skill Check (DC12). If successful the demon likes your song, and will guide your hand in battle. Add an additional +2 to Attack and Damage rolls, and +2 to AC for this round only. Failure will convey no bonus. A check must be made each round, so the wielder must keep singing to receive the bonus again. A Critical Success (natural 20) means that the demon is so happy he lets out a burst of electrical energy, meaning that your target takes an additional 2d8 lightning damage if your attack is successful. A Critical Failure (natural 1) means that the demon has grown bored of your terrible singing, and is now sulking. He will not help again until he has seen the sun rise. Note - to keep the demons attention you need to keep singing. If you stop for whatever reason, including to speak or cast a spell, then you cannot receive a bonus this round. You can, of course, start singing again next round. |
