From D&D Wiki
3rd-level Abjuration (ritual) | |
Casting time: | 1 minute |

Range: | Special |
Components: | S, M (Fine inks that are magically imbued) |
Duration: | 1 day |
This magic ritual draws out magical anchors that project a screen of magical energy stronger than glass, it can be placed anywhere so long as the area is bounded by a physical walls that the inks can be laid onto.
The window can be tweaked to allow or deny winds, heat, light, water, specific substances, air and sound on demand.
The screen has 20 hit point and breaks like glass when forced through. If the duration has not elapsed and the inks undisturbed (which can be done by burying the inks with ‘Mould Earth’) the screen will reform itself over 10 minutes from total destruction or less depending on the extent of damage.
When casting the spell you can choose to expend additional spell slots to enhance the screen. You can repeat the casting of the spell using a 3rd level slots to renew the spell duration the spell and all currently active effects, to apply a new effect a spell slot of a level higher is needed for each effect, (this higher slot is only needed for adding effects): Keyed - The boundary can be keyed to a specific creature, a species of creature, a particular lineage of creatures within a species, specific mana signature or object. The boundary can then be configured to selectively target the keyed with effects or selectively bar passage.
- Diamond Hard - The screen is made as strong as diamond and does not allow living or magical matter to pass through it. It is immune to non-magical damage and resists all other forms of damage. The screen has 1000 hit points per spell slot level used and regains any lost hitpoints as dawn.
- Guilty Chain - The screen bestows any creature or object that comes into contact with or passes through it with a Chain Curse. This curse causes ethereal chains to wrap them, these chains have no effect on the living but will prevent the person from moving if they enter the ethereal plane and likewise prevent their soul for moving on if they die. Any being looking into the ethereal can see these chains clearly. This curse requires a remove curse cast at a level equal to this spell to remove.
- Hidden - The boundary places itself under the effects of both the ‘Nondetection’ spell which hides all from divination and ‘Minor Image’ which allows the caster to create an illusion over the space.
- Portal - The boundary can be linked to an already existing point created with a teleportation spell such as ‘Glyph of Teleportation’, 'Teleportation Circle' or ‘Teleportation Doorway’, it can then be configured to automatically trigger on contact with the boundary or have some other activation clause. Either side of the boundary can be set to act in specific ways also.
- Forgotten - Contact with the screen forces a wisdom saving throw onto a creature. On failure the creature is charmed by the screen (uses 1st level “Charm Person”), their memories of the screen are erased and they retrace their steps for the 1 hour. When this effect ends the creature has no recollection of the screen, the path it took to reach it or having lost time.
- Sedating - The boundary attempts to place any creature not keyed to it under the effects of ‘Sleep’, once per round when an intruders makes contact with the boundary or starts its turn in contact with it, they must make a DC 15 constitution saving throw, on failure that take 1d6 sleep buildup, once this buildup is equal to or exceeds their hitpoints they fall asleep and can not be woken while within 60 ft of the boundary unless the caster allows them.
- Mutative - When triggered the boundary collapses and all the mana within floods the body of the creature that triggered it, this causes a magical mutation to begin within the person. They must make a Constitution Saving throw with disadvantage if they do not possess spellcasting slots. On failure, they 4d6 necrotic damage repeating this for 3 turns with repeated failures. If they succeed they take half as much damage and the effect ends. If their hitpoints drop to 0 and are not a spellcaster they die outright and their body is raised as a zombie, if they do possess spellcasting slots however they become stable they are transformed into a Nothic over 1d3 days and then regain 3d6 hitpoints. (Decide if this death or not with DM).
A form of magical powering can be used to power the ‘Conjured Boundary’ however the active and myriad nature of the spell precludes the use of ‘Permanency’ to sustain the spell.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th of higher you can apply an additional effect to the Conjured Boundary up to 6th level.
