Compass of the Longing Heart (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Wondrous item, very rare (requires attunement) A small silver compass with intricate carvings on it. It seems to be broken at first glance. The compass' needle points to your greatest desire, whether you know what it is or not. If there is more than one place where the desire can be reached, it will point to the nearest one. For example, if you want riches, it will point to the nearest hoard of coins. The quantity of the coins will depend on your idea of wealth. When the place is reached and the desire is obtained, the compass will stop working until the next dawn. If the compass is pointing towards a person and that person dies, the compass will keep pointing to the body. If the body is destroyed, the compass stops working as if your desire was found. Additionally, the object of desire must be on the same plane of existence and can't be protected from divination magic. For instance, wearing an amulet of proof against detection and location would protect a person from being targeted by this item. |
