Amphibious. The cipactli can breathe air and water.

Underwater Camouflage. The cipactli has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made while underwater.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The cipactli makes two attacks: one with its bite or tail and one with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d10 + 3) piercing damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 15). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the cipactli can't bite another target.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) slashing damage.

Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d10 + 3) bludgeoning damage.

Living Water Breath (Recharge 6). The cipactli exhales water in a 15-foot line that is 5 feet wide, and creates a water weird at the end of this line. Each creature in that line must succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw or take 10 (3d6) piercing damage.

Cipactli take roughly a year from their hatching to reach their adult size and harden their soft scales. During this time, they are vulnerable prey to hakuna and giant crocodiles, and typically sustain themselves on crocodiles, minotaur lizards, and the scraps left behind by their parents. Young cipactli seemingly inspire less of their parents' ire than other creatures, only being bludgeoned for perceived disrespect rather than fighting to the death.
While adult cipactli fully dominate the will of their living breath, the same can not be said for their young. It isn't uncommon for a young cipactli to be slain by its own breath and eaten by its siblings. Young cipactli are rarely hunted by Mazticans, and such hunts are typically done to prevent adult cipactli from propagating in the area rather than the hunt itself.
