Chest of Shrinking (5e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Wondrous item, uncommon (minor)

This iron-banded chest is 5 feet long, 3 feet wide, and 2 feet tall with a half-barrel lid. While the lid is closed, you can use an action to say the chest's command word, causing it and its contents to reduce in size and weight proportionally until the chest is a Tiny object 2 ½ inches long, 1 ½ inch wide, and 1 inch tall. This reduction in size lasts until you speak the chest's command word again, whereupon it returns to its original size if it has space to do so.

The chest has a lock, which can be picked with thieves' tools and a successful DC 15 Dexterity check while the chest is its normal size. Smashing the lock or any other part of the chest renders it nonmagical. The contents of the chest return to full size if they are removed from the chest or if the chest loses its magic.
