The sanguines are a race of elementals made out of Chi, or pure life force, though they are often inaccurately described as blood elementals. They are divided into two subraces, the powerful and unbound chaos sanguines, and the refined and delicate orthodox sanguines. The sanguines belonged to an empire that was once great, and only became greater. 200 years ago, the empire was struck down from the zenith of its power by once unthinkable coalition, which now exists to oppress the supremacy of the empire. Now the sanguines wait, biding their time, plotting revenge, and praying for a new empire to be born.
