A depiction of a Orthodox sanguine
We fought hard. We were once mighty. We drove our troops too far north, we relied on an unreliable ally. We were defeated. We lost. It's over.
—Emperor Gelith'aaniq

Orthodox sanguines are the less populous and more sensible branch of the sanguines, a race of blood elementals native to the Faakh'el empire in southern Aletae. The orthodox sanguines are weaker physically and magically, but have much more focused and refined minds than their brethren, the chaos sanguines, and consequently tend to end up superior to them. In a battle, orthodox sanguines are generally willing to overcommit much longer than a typical foe would, as they often have a "nothing to lose" mentality and the ability to quickly and painlessly heal themselves and their troops. On their own, Orthodox sanguines plot about how to manipulate and dominate others around them, and generally build up a following of chaos sanguine if available. They direct their inferiors to carry out their goals, aspirations, and plots, with the ultimate goal of reforming their once great empire
