Caretaker's Spade (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Weapon (swordspear), legendary (requires attunement by a creature of any non-lawful alignment) The Caretaker's Spade is an old, worn shovel that seems to have been repaired many times over, but, no matter how hard you strike something, it never chips, never cracks, and the edge never seems to dull. This weapon is a silvered swordspear in the shape of a shovel and gains a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls. This weapon weighs 4 ½ pounds. Attuning. To attune to the Caretaker's Spade, you must bury the body of a recently slain enemy in an unmarked grave using this spade. While you are attuned to this weapon, you are considered proficient it. Drain. When you successfully hit a target, the target takes an additional 1d12 necrotic damage, and you regain hit points equal to the necrotic damage dealt. Taking Care of Things. While holding the weapon, you gain proficiency on Nature and Intimidation checks; if you are already proficient in one or both of these skills, you gain advantage on rolls for that skill you're proficient with. You cannot be charmed or frightened while you attuned to this magic weapon. You also gain a burrowing speed of 10 feet. Evil's Soft Touch. When you enter combat, you are magically wrapped in a dark robe that gives off an uneasy air. Hostile creatures that come within 10 feet of you must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. The creature can make this saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. You can cast the bestow curse (save DC 13), or the Misty step spell from the spade as a bonus action. Once you cast the both of these spells twice in this way, you cannot do so again until the next dawn. Gravedigger. While this weapon is on your person you are considered under a curse, attunement is not required for this curse to be applied to you. If you see a corpse of a humanoid within 60ft. of you, and you are not in combat, the urge to bury and mark the grave of that creature will become the forefront of your thinking. |
