This experimental weapon places a crossbow within the confines of a thick shield's frame. This construction left openings that show off the crossbow itself, so as not to overburden the tool with weight. Because of its experimental nature and limited availability, the bowshield is only used by select members within the sultan's swordtesting caste of warriors.
A bowshield can be enchanted as a magic shield or a magic weapon, but not both. A bowshield enchanted as a magic weapon does not occupy a character's magic item arms slot. Although a character cannot use two shields at the same time, a character wielding a spiked shield enchanted as a weapon can employ arms slot items such as bracers.
- Ammunition
The bowshield uses Crossbow bolts and is treated as a Crossbow.
