Blazeblade (5e Equipment)

Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: The high cost does not mitigate that this is a light weapon that deals 2d6 damage. Where does the fire come from, is this a magic weapon? The "specials" are a little strange (how is a blade used for shoving?) and should perhaps integrate better with existing rules (see Disarming in the DMG, and Disarming (5e Variant Rule))

Blazeblade

Martial Melee Weapons
Weapon Cost Damage Weight Properties
Blazeblade 1000 gp 1d6 slashing + 1d6 fire 3 lbs Light, special

This is a weapon with a curved blade in the shape of a hook, a bladed guard, and a knife tip on its handle. Also known as the Blazeblade, it combines the power of fire with the finesse of a hook sword. Blazeblades are designed to be used in pairs, with hooks useful for tripping opponents and trapping weapons.

Special: When attempting the Shove action while wielding this weapon, you can make an attack roll with your weapon instead of a Strength (Athletics) check.

Special: While wielding one Blazeblade in each hand, you can attempt to trap an opponent's weapon. When a creature misses you with a melee weapon attack, you can use your reaction to make a grapple attempt against the attacker. The target may end this grapple by releasing their weapon. While grappling your opponent's weapon, you can't make attacks against them with the Blazeblades.

Special: While wielding one Blazeblade in each of your hands, you can link them together as a bonus action until the end of your turn. They gain the reach property, and their damage die becomes a d4. Due to the concentration necessary to effectively wield linked Blazeblades, this still counts as wielding two weapons.
