Battleaxe of the Dire Wolf (5e Equipment)

Weapon (battleaxe), legendary (requires attunement by a creature with a Strength score of 18 or higher and proficiency with martial weapons)

This handsome double-bit battleaxe is forged magically under extreme heat, primarily out of iron and tungsten, and imbued with the energy of the dire wolf. The weapon can be recognized by the wolf heads facing each other on the blades, the impeccable craftsmanship, remarkably perfect balance and the dark colour of the tungsten.

You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. As a bonus action, you can howl like a wolf which transforms the weapon into two similar battle axes, or back into one.

Once attuned you gain the abilities of the:

Dual Wielding Feat.

  • You gain +1 AC while dual-wielding.
  • You may ignore the Light requirement for dual-wielding.
  • You may automatically draw or stow 2 weapons instead of 1 at the same time.

Keen Hearing and Smell. You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Pack Tactics. You have advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.

On a successful hit with this weapon it deals additional damage as per a Dire Wolf Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: 7 (2d4 + 2) magical piercing damage. If the target is a creature, and takes two consecutive hits in one turn, it must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

If you are separated from this axe by a distance greater than 50 feet, the axe will howl like a dire wolf until it is reunited. This condition ends 1 hour after your death or when you break your attunement to this item.
